What To Expect: Quality over Quantity

3DPRO is a sanctuary for professionals, not a social media feed.

We consist of a curated community of less than 1,000 members—a number that reflects nearly 30 years of organic, invite-only growth. This natural size allows for genuine relationships rather than anonymous noise. As such, we do not have the volume of a massive public platform, but we have the depth.

The Pacing is a Feature: Because our members are working professionals at the top of their fields, replies may take time. Please keep this in mind. You aren’t getting a rapid-fire guess from a stranger. You are engaging in thoughtful discussion. Not everyone comes here with a problem to be solved. Many come for feedback, input, or deep conversation. The nature of 3DPRO is to be generally more thoughtful than public spaces, prioritizing substance over speed.

Engagement leads to engagement. High volume is often cyclical. The more people engage, the more likely others are to engage. If you want to see more activity on 3DPRO, engage with posts. Set an example. Be the change you’d like to see.

Here is what you can look forward to:

🛡️Active Stewardship (Quality Control):

This is arguably the biggest difference between 3DPRO and the open web. Unlike social media, where “anything goes,” 3DPRO is a curated professional space. To uphold our high standards, 3DPRO content & behavior is actively moderated.

This isn’t about censorship; it’s about protecting the signal. While we are an actively stewarded community, actual intervention is rare because our members respect the space.

If the idea of a “moderated community” gives you pause, consider this: 3DPRO has thrived for nearly 30 years. The reason so many industry veterans and high-level professionals call this place home is not because they enjoy being “policed” (who does?)—it is because they value a space that is protected from toxicity and distractions. They love this community because of the stewardship, not in spite of it.

It is also about bridging the gap. Stewardship ensures that hard-won industry wisdom is passed down effectively to newer members. If 3DPRO Admin steps in to offer guidance, please understand that this is done to ensure the experience remains high-quality for everyone.

Please Note: While 3DPRO Admin’s goal is always to guide and mentor, protecting the community is the priority. In the rare event that a member consistently demonstrates they are not a good fit—by disregarding our standards or disrespecting peers despite moderation—their posting privileges or membership may be revoked. This is a measure of last resort, but one we will take to ensure 3DPRO remains a professional sanctuary.

🏆A Primary Hub for Industry Leaders

For many of our members, 3DPRO™ is their primary place to engage online.

Our membership roster includes Academy Award® and Emmy® Winners, TED speakers, published authors, directors, and key technical leaders from dozens of the world’s most renowned visual effects, animation, and gaming studios.

It also includes the C-Suite: Presidents, CEOs, COOs, CCOs, and CTOs.

Many of these individuals have been members for decades. Why do high-status individuals stay? Trust. They remain because of the confidence they have in the community, the active stewardship that protects the signal, and because this is a private sanctuary—not a public square.

🔊The “Signal-to-Noise” Philosophy:

We prioritize a high signal-to-noise ratio, but we define “signal” differently than a dry technical manual. To us, friendliness is signal.

Replies to introductions, words of encouragement, and positive reinforcement might seem like “noise” in strict technical forums, but here they are the foundation of our culture. It is about camaraderie. It is about spotting old friends from past studios and building genuine human bonds. We encourage this “friendly noise” because it represents the vibe we want to cultivate. We moderate distraction (toxicity, off-topic arguments), not connection. Don’t be afraid to be friendly—it’s not a waste of bandwidth—it’s community building.

💼Professional Peer Support:

Real-world answers and insights grounded in professional experience, rather than random speculation.

🤝Genuine Connections:

Our community is small enough that you can actually get to know people. You will recognize names when they pop up in your feed, allowing you to build real relationships rather than just interacting with anonymous strangers.

🔒A Trusted Environment:

We are a trusted environment in the sense that everyone is vetted, there are no anonymous members, and everyone is here to help support and be a part of this community.

However, please exercise professional discretion. While this is a private space, it does not mean things expressed here are secret. Many members hold leadership roles throughout the industry. Always maintain professional judgment when discussing sensitive business or client matters.

📚Diverse Topics:

While 3D is the core, we discuss hardware, software, general interests, and occasionally share personal wins or struggles.

⚖️Respectful Discourse:

We are a community of peers. Disagreements occur, but they are handled with respect. This is where active stewardship plays a vital role. In moments where passion turns into friction, I step in not to silence debate, but to ensure that communication remains professional and constructive. We attack problems, not people.

🤝Getting Value from Your Membership

Membership is Participation. You unlock the network by engaging with it.

Every seat in this community is paid for—whether through a personal subscription, a Lifetime Membership, or a Sponsored Membership (funded by the community or our Underwriting Partners).

We’ve been a member-supported community since 2019, and most longtime members made the jump without hesitation. People don’t invest in something that doesn’t deliver. The value is real—and members who engage consistently are the ones who find it.

Here’s what that looks like:

  • Acknowledge posts you appreciate (reactions, replies, thanks)
  • Ask questions when you need help
  • Share your knowledge and experience when you can
  • Contribute to discussions on topics that interest you
  • Bring interesting conversations or discoveries to the community

You don’t need to be an expert to be valued here. Simple engagement—asking thoughtful questions, showing appreciation, sharing what you find interesting—helps everyone feel connected and keeps the community thriving.
